Nat King Cole in Photographs

Nat King Cole, 1919 - 1965, one of the great pop vocalists of all time, and a major figure in the development of jazz piano, during his life he charted 29 times on Billboard with six songs in the top 10. He was the first African-American man to host an American television series, The Nat King Cole Show.

His daughter, Natalie Cole, soul singer, pianist, and songwriter enjoyed popularity and acclaim well beyond the name recognition afforded by her father. Her biggest success, Unforgettable, a departure from her R&B work, was a loving tribute to her late father and was overdubbed to make it sound as though she were singing a duet with him, sold over seven million copies, winning her seven Grammy Awards. These Nat King Cole photos capture the artist at work.
