Nico: Chelsea Girl By Way of Cologne

Pushing underground credibility to the tipping point of tragic poetics, the unequivocally cool Nico lived a life of enigmatic if not isolating extremes. Forgoing the pendulum of existential torment and exalting acclaim which underscores much of her anomalous legend, we're focusing on the sweet in-between of the human behind the peroxide fringe veil and "Femme Fatale" mystique. Born Christa Päffgen in 1934, the German singer-songwriter's haunting vocals enlivened Velvet Underground classics like "All Tomorrow's Parties" and "I'll Be Your Mirror" before careening into an oft underwritten and short-lived solo career punctuated by masterworks such as "Chelsea Girls", "The Fairest of The Seasons" and "These Days." These days, Päffgen has seen a long-overdue resurgence with a radiant torch continued by former collaborators, fellow artists, fans around the globe and more than a handful of iconic Nico pictures within the MHG archives available as fine art prints from your local gallery representative or our complimentary online concierge service.
