Soul Music Photography

Soul music originated in the United States in the late 1950s and early 1960s. It combines elements of African-American gospel music, rhythm and blues and jazz. The music on record labels Motown, Atlantic and Stax brought so many talented artists to light. From Aretha Franklin, Smokey Robinson, Diana Ross, Al Green, James Brown, Marvin Gaye to Michael Jackson, Ike & Tina Turner, Sly Stone, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Prince and so many more exciting artists continue to inspire music into this century. Find classic photos of your favorite soul music artists in our collection.
