In the half-century that has passed since its genesis, the genre has given rise not only to the likes of Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Joe Cocker and contemporaries such as Grace Jones, Shaggy and Matisyahu but moreover to a more global, transnational identity of Caribbean culture.
