They've Got Sole

Not all heroes wear capes, some wear platform boots. Traipsing red carpets, music halls and sold-out stadium tours around the globe, killer pumps, razor-sharp stilettos and architecturally-inspired platforms are on parade as Morrison Hotel Gallery presents They've Got Sole, an online exhibition paying homage to sky-high footwear and all things too-glam-to-give-a-damn. Like bespoke metronomes keeping time with the escalating tempo of music culture at large, the provocative accessory pervades all walks of life, giving desirable rise to attitudes, altitudes and some of music history's most iconic struts. From the intricacies of Gene Simmons's gravity-defying thigh-highs snapped by Lynn Goldsmith or Timothy White's lensing of a head-over-heels Liza Minnelli to David Bowie’s kabuki-inspired platforms brought to life through through the lens of Masayoshi Sukita and craftmanship of the late Kansai Yamamoto, They've Got Sole celebrates the style, sound and enduring spirit of larger-than-life music legends.
