From the holiday window displays that freckle 5th Avenue to layers shed at Brooklyn's late-night dives, I pine for a New York City Christmas of popular imagining but perhaps also one with a little extra cheer. Nevertheless, at this tender time of year when even life's simplest pleasures are imbued with a sense of childlike wonder, these photos from the MHG archives are a nod to what I cherish most about the holiday season—and a wink to sleigh bells and silver lamé.
