20th Century American Culture

From Buddy Guy and Junior Wells to Marlon Brando and Allen Ginsberg, the lens of an American treasure, Art Shay photographed life in the 20th century like no other. Shay has photographed eight U.S. Presidents and major cultural legends of the 20th century including sports icons Mohammad Ali, Vince Lombardi and Rocky Graziano. Shay has published more than 70 books on various subjects, has written weekly columns for various newspapers and has authored several plays. His photography is in the permanent collections of major museums including the National Portrait Gallery and The Art Institute of Chicago. View this collection for a taste of life post World War II and into the cultural awakening of the 60s.
