Joni Mitchell Photographs, The Formative Years 1972-76

Finding her voice with the 1971 acclaim of Blue, Joni Mitchell’s streak of success would continue with the back-to-back release of four additional studio albums over the next four years, a period of time captured most poignantly by the singer-songwriter’s personal photographer, Joel Bernstein. Compelling in their capturing of a restless artist amidst of internationally acclaim with an intimacy that is uncompromising, Bernstein’s candid monochromatic images of megastar Joni Mitchell are some of the most poetic, but don’t take our word for it. In addition to the immediately recognizable gatefold from Mitchell’s 1976 LP, Hejira, this collection also includes a refreshingly earnest shot of a guitar wielding Joni said to be her favorite portrait of herself.
