Stephanie Pfriender Stylander
In a famous, intimate New Jersey theater Stephanie at the age of fourteen first fell under "THE" spell as she watched photographers work with this small little black machine dressed in numbers. Following them into the darkroom, the love affair soon began. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from The School of Visual Arts and an Associate of Science Degree from Endicott College graduating with high honors in photography from both institutions. Stephanie then went on to assist the legendary photographer Art Kane in New York. She moved to Europe and began building her career in Milan and Paris during the early 1990s. Over the last 20 years based in New York her career had been focused on celebrity portraiture. Her portrait work is dominated by instinct in the world of fame which evokes an emotional range of rebelliousness, melancholia and ambiguous cinematic moods. Her clients range from international magazines, advertising agencies, music and fine art.
Stephanie has received numerous honors including awards from Communication Arts, Graphis, The Society of Publication Designers and American Photography as well as being included in group shows at the Howard Greenberg, the Spazio e Ansaldo Milan, The Morrison Hotel Galleries, along with The International Center of Photography. Stephanie had a solo exhibition at Art Basel Miami Beach Wynwood 2013. She has lectured at The Maine Photographic Workshops, The Art Director's Club, Windstar, Silversea and The School of Visual Arts.
