"[These shots were] taken during a formal portrait sitting of Elvis by Bud Fraker, head of Paramount Pictures Still Department, after completion of major filming of "Loving You," a 1956 Hal Wallis production. Bud had invited me to shoot candid 35mm black and white, while he was shooting 8" x 10" color." -- Bill Avery
Avery had a number one rule for portraiture:"If the eyes are without expression, you have no picture!" As you can see here, the intensity in Elvis' eyes sets a feeling for these photographs.
