In May 1969, Timothy Leary came to the Rolling Stone office looking for Jann's endorsement for his, Tim's, possible run for governor of California. Jann demurred, fortunately or unfortunately, who's to know. However, it's interesting to speculate the kind of state California might have become had Leary run and won. The campaign itself would have been a not-to-be-missed experience. Use your imagination!
