For all the hype about his reputation as a hard drinking, cussing, wild man, I found Johnny Cash to be very nice and cooperative. When I suggested we take a photo with this young lad who had won a competition, Johnny gave him the hat and toy gun as a present. When the picture was developed, we all thought the boy would grow up to become an actor.
Johnny had traced his family back to Scotland in the 17th century and was looking forward to the next stop on his tour, in Scotland.
Johnny recorded his famous Folsom Prison concert that same year.
