"I photographed Willie Dixon for Rolling Stone Magazine back in January of 1989. He arrived at my studio without any entourage so our sitting was very intimate. After taking portraits in the studio we decided to take a walk over to a music club around the corner called Delta 88. The stage at the club had all the styling of a Mississippi blues club, a perfect place to create an environmental portrait of the Blues Legend. We had lunch together and then Mr. Dixon thanked me for our time together. The session produced a CD cover for a collection of songs by Mr. Dixon called Ginger Ale Afternoon on Varese Sarabande records. Willie's songs (alongside Chuck Berry's) were the cornerstone of Rock n' Roll and were later recorded by Cream (Spoonful), The Doors (Back Door Man), Led Zeppelin (I Can't Quit You Babe, You Shook Me), The Rolling Stones (Little Red Rooster), I Ain't Superstitious (Jeff Beck Group) and countless others." --Ken Shung
