Charles Mingus was one of the towering masters of jazz, with a personality as rich and complex and as uncompromising as the music he created. He'd returned to Columbia Records in 1971 to release "Let My Children Hear Music," a record he called "the best album I have ever made." This Urve Kuusik in-the-studio portrait of Mingus in November 1971 is a portrait of the musician at the peak of his genius.
